Shrek the Musical is a stage adaptation of the beloved 2001 animated film Shrek by DreamWorks, which is based on the 1990 book by William Steig.
Shrek, a grumpy ogre who teams up with a talkative Donkey to rescue Princess Fiona in exchange for reclaiming his swamp from exiled fairy tale creatures. Along the way, Shrek and Fiona bond, but her secret curse, which turns her into an ogre at night, complicates matters. Ultimately, Shrek confesses his love, breaks Fiona’s curse, and they embrace their true selves.
The show celebrates themes of self-acceptance, love beyond appearances, and the value of true friendship. Known for its humour, heart, and catchy songs like “Big Bright Beautiful World” and “I’m a Believer,” the musical is a family-friendly favourite.
